Creative Media is the studio’s original practice — the films, the audio, the experiments, the half of the studio that runs on a different clock. It’s where ideas live before they have clients, and where the work that matters mosttends to start.

Sunrise
A horror film about the long hours before dawn at a roadside diner — and what arrives in the last fifteen minutes before the sun comes up.
A small, perfectly-pitched piece of dread. The kind of short that announces a filmmaker.

Why originals
The other half
of the
studio.
The commissioned studio funds the original studio. The original studio teaches the commissioned studio. They share a building, a team, and a set of standards — but they answer to different audiences.
Original work is where we get to find the form before the brief exists. It’s matters slower, less profitable, and harder to talk about — and it’s also the reason the rest of the studio is any good.
If something we make moves through the world and lands somewhere — a festival, an inbox, a long conversation — we treat that as the point. The films and the audio aren’t a side hobby. They’re the half of the practice that decides what the whole practice is for.
We post about the work occasionally on the studio’s journal and quarterly newsletter — sign up below if you’d like to keep up.
